Q Assignment Post Analyze one of the protagonists or antagonists from one of the stories we've read this week. Begin by categorizing the character--is it flat or round, dynamic or static, hero or anti-hero etc. In your analysis, explore the character's actions in terms of id, ego, and superego. What does the tension between the three reveal about the character's place in the story? What does it reveal about the main theme in the story? Present your argument as a single paragraph. Be sure to include direct quotations. Response Please respond to two classmates. Each response has two parts. 1. In one paragraph, discuss what you find most compelling about your partner's analysis. 2. in a second paragraph, offer an extended or different analysis of the tension between the character's id, ego, and superego. The story that I choose to write is "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. In the story, one of the protagonists is the neighbor woman, Elisenda, who is a round and dynamic character. At first, Elisenda is filled with curiosity and fascination with the old man, stating that "he's an angel" (Marquez, 2007). However, as time goes on and the old man's presence disrupts her daily routine, Elisenda becomes increasingly frustrated, eventually leading her to exploit him for financial gain. This tension between her id, ego, and superego highlights her selfish nature and lack of empathy toward the old man.
